British American Racing (BAR) was a Formula One constructor that competed from 1999 to 2005. Founded by Craig Pollock and backed by British American Tobacco, the team famously acquired the Tyrrell outfit to make its debut. While it initially struggled, the team found success in partnership with Honda, culminating in a brilliant 2004 season where they finished second in the Constructors' Championship. The team eventually evolved into the factory Honda Racing F1 team, and later, the dominant Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team.
